Climb to Camp Muir on Thursday, June 6, 2013

On Thursday, June 6, 2013, Bronka, Ted and me climbed up to Camp Muir.   We left the parking lot about 7:00 a.m.  It was a really nice day.   Bronka did great!   Despite some arm pain,  Bronka reached her goal.  We all made it up to Camp Muir about 2:30 p.m.   We had a nice visit with the people there.   On the way up to Camp Muir, we ran into a guy named Jim, whom we had seen the first time Bronka climbed up to Camp Muir and wanted a picture taken with her.  Then ran into another lady that recognized Bronka, her name was Cynthia.   Bronka had a very nice time visiting with her.

Beautiful Mt Rainier at 7:00 a.m.

Camp Muir Climb on Friday, May 31, 2013

What an amazing day!  Bronka made it up to Camp Muir.   It had been a couple years since she had been there and she did great.  She met so many guides who recognized her on the trail.  J. J., Jason, who led her on her first climb to the summit of Mt. Rainier, Jeremy and another guide whose name I did not get.   There was also a man at Camp Muir who wanted a picture taken of him and Bronka.  Jeremy at Camp Muir, gave Bronka a piece of smoked salmon, which she enjoyed so very much and some water.  Bronka had a wonderful time!

Ted starting on to the Skyline Trail toward Camp Muir

Bronka also starting on trail at 7:45 a.m.

Looking at the steep hill we will be climbing.   Bronka hates the hill and looking forward to the summer route opening.

Climbing up above Panaroma Point toward Pebble Creek.  Still into the clouds.

Finally getting above clouds toward Pebble Creek.

Bronka meets a guide who recognizes her.  Did not catch his name.

A break at Moon Rocks.  Bronka and Ted

That last hill toward Camp Muir.   So close, yet so far away!

Yes, finally got to Camp Muir.  Jeremy on the right, offered Bronka some Salmon.  Ted is resting.

Bronka got to sit on the rock throne Jeremy had made.  It was really nice.  Bronka was made for it!

Jeremy and Bronka.  Bronka enjoying the Salmon he gave her.

Bronka giving Jason some advice.  He was leading a group of climbers to Camp Muir and introduced Bronka to them.

Aah, finally down that awful steep hill and heading toward the parking lot after a full day!

Hike to Pebble Creek 5/11/13

On Saturday, May 11, Bronka and me, our friends, John, Sharon, Marion and Rosemary took a hike toward Camp Muir.   But Bronka and I decided to head to Pebble Creek and possible higher up, depending on the weather and time.  The day started off cloudy, and a little windy, but nice.  Bronka and I took our time and enjoyed our surroundings.     Then, we came to the hill going up to Panorama Point.   Bronka did great!   When we got up to Panorama Point, John, Sharon, Marion and Rosemary continued on to Camp Muir.   Bronka and I decided just to go to Pebble Creek.   We got up to over 7300 feet and had our lunch there.    We enjoyed our hike back and Bronka visited with many of the hikers.   It did get very warm, but we had a wonderful time.

Sharon, Rosemary, Marion and John, joined Bronka and I on a hike toward Camp Muir

The day started out a little cloudy,  and a little windy, but okay when hiking up, up, up!

Lots of climbers on Saturday, you can see many going up the hill toward Panorama Point.

Bronka looks awfully cute in her red outfit.

Quite a cloud cover

Hike to High Rock Lookout with Wally and Jerry

Wally and Jerry took Bronka up to High Rock Lookout as she had never been there.

Wally sent great pictures of the hike.    Bronka always looks forward to hiking with Wally and Jerry.  She also treasures the times when Wally and Bert come over for a visit.  Not too sure about the history of High Rock, maybe Wally can give me some information on it.

Bronka and Jerry, at High Rock Lookout, great view of Mt. Rainier

Bronka's friends, Wally, his wife, Bert and their friend, Jerry are also very treasured friends.  Bronka hikes with Wally and Jerry.  Wally was surprised that all of the years Bronka and Ake have lived here, Bronka had never been to Plummer Peak.

Bronka's Friends - Sally Johnson - 3/30/13

Through Bronka, I have met the most wonderful people.   Bronka has many friends and I call them treasures.  I asked some of them how they met Bronka.  Sally Johnson told me that she and her husband, Tom,  met Ake and Bronka while hiking up to Camp Muir.  Bronka and Ake have  met many people on the mountain and have maintained close relationships with them.

Ake and Bronka, beautiful couple

Sally, not feeling too well

Sally sent me some photos of the time they met Bronka and time spent with them both.  I love the pictures as I have never seen them before.  I did not know Ake very long before he passed away, but the time I did spend with them both, I could see the special bond that words could not describe they held for one another.

I know Sally and Tom have many stories of the times they spent with Ake and Bronka and Sally plans to share those times in a blog she is developing.  Looking forward to the blog and learning more about Ake and Bronka.
