Girls Night at Snow Bowl - January 27 - 28, 2014

Had an amazing time on our Girls Night Out at Snow Bowl.  Bronka and I were joined by Leeza and Carol W.  We were so excited about getting out and getting together.  When we started out at the snow park, it was very icy, but managed to get around it.    There is not much snow, as normal in January, many bare patches,  on the road up to the Snow Bowl Hut.    It was a 3 mile hike up to the hut on a cloudy cool day.   Bronka carried her own backpack with her sleeping bag in it.   Leeza tried carrying it for her, but Bronka refused to let her.  Bronka is suffering with shoulder problems and will be seeing an orthopedic the end of February, so we wanted to help her out.   But she did really well carrying up her pack to the hut.

When we got to the hut, we were met by our Monday hiking group, Ealane, Carol L., Jim and Lori.   It was so great to see them and visit with them.   They were just there for the day and were planning to leave after lunch.   Bronka was so happy to see them.

Leeza and I decided to hike to the Yurt, which is another 2 miles from the hut.   While Leeza and I were leaving, Our friend, Judy, Ellie and her mother, Sonya and Ellie's daughter, Connie, and Mare arrived.   Sonya, Connie and Mare planned to spend the night.    Bronka was so happy to see them all.  Leeza and I hiked to and from the Yurt.   Judy, Ellie and Ellie's daughter left by the time Leeza and I returned.    Bronka had a wonderful visit.

We all had sooo much food that everyone brought.   It was so good.   We played some games and there was lots of girl talk.    We all went to bed about 10:00 p.m.   What a fun day!    We woke up to  light showers and cloudy skies.   After a nice breakfast, we all packed up and headed out.   We all had a wonderful time and looking forward to the next Girls Night Out!

Bronka's friend, Wally, was hopingto meet up with us to help carry Bronka's sleeping bag, but we had already left.

Hike at Pack Forest on 1-28-14

Bronka joined Ted and me on a hike to Pack Forest.  It was a beautiful day that we took advantage of to walk our dogs.   It is a place we frequent, especially when the weather is not good in Ashford.

Trip to Leavenworth with Wally

Wally and Bronka went on a trip to Leavenworth.   The weather was cooperating and they decided to take advantage.  Wally and Bronka have been friends for many years.  In fact, Wally knew Ake before he met Bronka.   Wally is an avid hiker.   Wally and his friend, Jerry, would invite Bronka on their hikes.  Bronka was also a good friend to Wally's wife, Bert.   She just loved Bronka.  Wally's wife passed away last year, so Wally and his friend, Jerry have have continued to hike and snowshoe with Bronka.   Wally is a wonderful person who takes such good care of Bronka.   If anything needs fixing at her home, Wally gets it done.  At 91 years of age, he is an amazing man, just like Bronka is amazing at 88.  They have plans to do lots of hikes and snowshoe hikes as well as backpack trips this year.  We look forward to going with them on some of those trips.

Hike on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from Narada Falls to Reflection Lakes

On Saturday, January 4, Bronka and I decided to go on a hike from Narada Falls to Reflection Lakes.   It was a beautiful, sunny, but cold day.    Bronka and I did not take our snowshoes, but used our micro spikes as the snow level was low.

After having a small snack at the frozen lake, we headed back and ran into a couple who recognized Bronka from when she had summated Mt. Rainier over 10 years ago.    We had a nice conversation with Wayne and Roxanne Lieb.   What a nice couple.    They asked if I would take a picture of them with Bronka, which I did.      Hopefully, we will get to see them again.
