Fremont Lookout Hike on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Sunrise
On Monday, August 29, Bronka and I (Rose) were to meet Carol, Ealane, and Gertrude at Sunrise to hike up to Fremont Lookout. It was another wonderful day. I picked up Bronka and we were going to drive through the park. The others were going to drive around from the other side of the mountain on Hiway 410, then we would all meet at Sunrise.
Bronka and I drove up to Paradise as I missed making that right turn going to the east side of the park that goes to Sunrise. We were chatting so much I missed it. But was really glad I did as we drove past Paradise heading toward Reflection Lakes, we saw a big brown bear down in the valley. It was a pretty big one too! After watching it for a little while as it grazed, we drove off. Our drive was beautiful. As we were on the road to Sunrise, I noticed that Carol, Ealane and Gertrude were driving right behind us. Wow, it was great timing! We parked at Sunrise and very happy to see one another.
We all decided to hike up to Fremont Lookout. It was a great hike. Flowers were in full bloom, the mountain was clear. We even got to see about 15 goats on the hillside. I attached a picture of them. We had a wonderful lunch at the lookout and spoke with many of the hikers along the way.
It was also Gertrude's birthday. Carol made a wonderful cake for Gertrude which was wonderful! Bronka enjoyed it very much.
As we were at the parking lot, Bronka ran into some friends. I did not get all of their names, but Bronka was very happy to see them and chat with them. I attached a picture of them.
We all had a wonderful time together. Bronka, as always, amazes us, she is such a strong hiker. After the ladies drove away, Bronka and I visited the newly remodeled museum, then started for home. Another wonderful day with Bronka and great friends.
